2007 Annual CASBO Conference

InterSchola is excited about the upcoming 2007 CASBO Annual Conference in San Jose, California.  You will find us in Booth #314.  Please bring your surplus-related questions, comments and suggestions, as well as your taste for chocolate, as we will have plenty of chocolate coins to give away!

In addition to our exhibitor booth, InterSchola will also have a suite at the Fairmont Hotel to accommodate further discussion of our services away from the hustle and bustle of the trade show floor. Please email Jeff Greenholtz (jgreenholtz@interschola.com) to set up an appointment with one of our surplus specialists.

For those who stop by our booth or schedule an appointment, InterSchola is pleased to announce an initiative to benefit the Friends of Education

Scholarship Fund.  Please read our Letter From the President (page 2) to learn more about this exciting opportunity.

See you in San Jose!

Portable Partnership

InterSchola is pleased to announce a partnership to assist with the sale and removal of modular buildings on behalf of our clients.

To date, InterSchola  has managed several successful sales of modular classroom/office buildings through eBay, our primary platform for listing public auctions on behalf of InterSchola clients.   While our InterSchola/eBay auctions generate significant exposure, we find that the sales cycle of a portable building is often significantly longer than the typical eBay auction or eBay store listing due to the complexity of scheduling removal and transportation arrangements for a large structure.  In the existing model, eBay bidders must undertake the relocation of these buildings which can entail significant time, effort and costs often exceeding the selling price of the building.  Thus, InterSchola is pleased to announce a partnership with a nationwide modular building reseller to market and relocate portable buildings that have been listed on eBay in accordance with InterSchola's Services Agreements, but which have ended without a successful sale.

With client approval, our partner will advertise as yet unsold modular buildings to an existing nationwide network of modular building buyers.  As an extension of InterSchola's services, InterSchola/Client modular building listings will be featured on our partner website on an all inclusive basis including cost of the structure, dismantling, relocation from the seller's location and re-installation of the building on the buyer's property. This approach will simplify the process for buyers and remove many of the impediments to a successful transaction. InterSchola's partner possesses significantexpertise in modular building packaging, pricing and marketing which increases the likelihood of a successful sale.

Please contact us at auction-info@interschola.com if you have modular buildings that you would like to sell.

Surplus Sales Strategies

InterSchola can help you maximize the return on district/agency surplus sales.  Below are some successful auction strategies that have worked well for existing clients:

Spread the Word

Let us help you!  InterSchola realizes maximum value from district surplus when we have a wide variety of asset types to work with.  Therefore we recommend that you contact the gatekeepers within each of your organization departments (e.g. Buildings and Grounds, M&O, Transportation, IT, Athletics, Food Service and Instruction)  to let them know about InterSchola's services.   Your colleague's will be delighted that you have done the legwork to identify a valuable resource for your organization!

Schedule Auctions Early and Often

InterSchola requires NO upfront commitment.  Therefore, once you have completed an auction round, we recommend that you schedule your next auction event with your local Field Auction Manager.  As the day approches, we'll contact you.  If you do not feel you need our services at that time, we'll gladly reschedule.  If you find you need us sooner, you can always call for an immediate visit by your local Field Auction Manager.  We recommend once a quarter!  Its like getting your teeth cleaned at the dentist - having a date on the calendar will encourage you to 'clean' more often.  Think how good you feel after you've been to the dentist (once the novacaine wears off).

Contact your Community

InterSchola often hears that our Clients have limited storage capacity for surplus.  While InterSchola can help with this problem by determining sales potential and managing the auction/sale process of valuable surplus quickly and efficiently, we'd also like to help you think about alternatives to aid in this effort.  We encourage our clients to think creatively about seeking community participation.  Contact a local storage company in your neighborhood to ask if they will donate space to the district to store your items while InterSchola manages the sale of these items from that location!  We are happy to have these conversations on your behalf.

With this newsletter and others to follow, Interschola will be making our clients aware of some of our recent requests for specific goods, in case your organization may be interested in disposing of these same items now or in the very near future.

Letter From the President

Spring Cleaning for Scholarship Donations!

Spring will be a busy time for InterSchola. We look forward to seeing many familiar faces at the 2007 CASBO Annual Conference April 12-16, 2007 in San Jose, CA. In recognition of so many of our wonderful and supportive school district clients, InterSchola would like to make a contribution to the FRIENDS OF EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP fund. InterSchola will make a contribution of $250 to the Friends of Education Scholarship Fund on the last day of this event. In addition, for every new Client that is introduced to InterSchola by an existing Client at the CASBO Annual Conference, InterSchola will make an additional $50 donation to the scholarship fund. New Clients must sign our contract and complete an initial auction by July 31st in order to qualify for this contribution. InterSchola representatives will be on hand in our booth to greet existing Clients and to note any New Client introductions that are made by a friend of InterSchola. We hope this will encourage many of our very satisfied Clients to bring their friends and colleagues to our booth to say hello! Further we hope our contribution to the scholarship fund will help provide important financial resources to award scholarships to individuals who are pursuing education and/or research in the school business field. We can only hope that award receipients continue to think creatively about strategies to make a difference in their organization!

Sincerely,

Melissa Rich
